carpediem art gallery  galleryONEmain

galleryONEmain was originally located in High Bridge, New Jersey.  It was opened after the renovation of an 1860's rail road freight station which had deteriorated
over the years.   Mr. Murphy was recognized for starting a renaissance on Main Street by opening the first art gallery in this beautiful small town. In addition to the fine art gallery, he brought an eatery to the renovated multi use building as well.  Both local and county government officials recognized him for the historic renovations of the property and upgrading  the area surrounding the active New Jersey Transit Commuter Station.

After a successful run of seven years in the historic "freight station" in High Bridge, the gallery was moved to Carpe Diem Farm and rechristened "Carpediem Art Gallery" in 2005.  Now exhibitions are scheduled on a more informal basis up to six per year, but still featuring outstanding art from around the world. The One Main Street property now houses the very  popular Mexican Restaurant  Casa Maya.....as well as Cafe Hola, specializing in Cuban food.

Murphy has long been associated with art, art councils and the creation of art.  He has studied art gallery management, and holds a degree in Communications from Michigan State University, and an M. B. A. from the University of Miami in Florida.  He also has held chief executive positions in a number of  not for profit organizations.

Having lived on both coasts of the U.S. with a Canadian heritage, he has visited  many locations searching for fine art from talented emerging and midcareer artists.  He has presented the works of more than 250 artists from ten countries since opening the gallery.

A painter, sculptor, and photographer, Murphy holds a copyright on some of his poetry writings. He has resided in Lebanon Township [Califon, NJ] for the past fifteen years after renovating a  200 year old farm house and its various out buildings. He has implemented a forest management plan on the  farm and has been recognized by the American Tree Foundation for his efforts.
